Asia Counsel has a wealth of experience in the energy and renewables sector, and our bustling renewables practice advises a range of energy providers on projects in Vietnam.

With a particular emphasis on wind and solar power, we work to help promote the development of the renewables industry in Vietnam and the wider region. Our practice specializes in JVAs, JDAs, PPAs and energy term sheets.

Our scope of work includes advising:
  • The Blue Circle, a European developer of renewable power assets on the development of three wind parks in Vietnam, including the 40MW Dam Nai project, the first foreign-owned wind project in Vietnam, including advising on permitting, turbine supply agreements, BOP contracts, Power Purchase Agreements and the project financing of the projects.
  • The Blue Circle on the acquisition of a majority interest in a Vietnamese wind park developer with the development permit to develop a wind power project in Binh Thuan Province, Vietnam, including carrying out the project due diligence and assisting with the joint venture contract with the local partner.
  • Vestas on the turbine supply and installation agreement and O&M agreement for the Huong Linh 2 Project, 50 MW Tra Vinh 1 Project, 50 MW Hoa Binh 1 project, 210 MW AIM/AC Energy invested Quang Binh project  and 48MW Tra Vinh 3 Project in Vietnam.
  • Sowitec on the establishment of its Vietnam subsidiary and renewable projects platform and project advice in respect of the development of a wind farm in Vietnam.
